Moin Moin,
in the current FileMaker magazine FMM_202204 is an interesting article on how to automatically import data from an SAP system running on SAP HANA into FileMaker. The entire process is fully automated and regularly updates the data from the SAP system in the FileMaker database.
In principle, the SAP system is accessed using the SAP client for macOS and a Unix ODBC driver for accessing the SAP database. After configuration, the data can simply be queried via SQL query.
The author also goes into more detail in his article and describes a principle of data cleansing with AppleScript so that the data from the SAP system also arrives in the FileMaker database in the correct form.
This solution enables FileMaker to be connected to SAP HANA systems, which can also be used with our customizable gFM Business ERP software if required.

Today I came across an interesting article in the WiWo, which reported on failed SAP projects:
Haribo, Lidl, Deutsche Post: The long list of difficult and failed SAP projects
In my opinion, SAP is indispensable in the corporate and enterprise sector - also because this system is very widespread and offers many professional options. But SAP is certainly not always the first choice for SMEs or sub-projects because it is very inflexible internally.
With the interface to SAP HANA presented in FileMaker Magazine, it is also possible to realize such sub-projects within existing SAP environments, which I find quite exciting.
