All product types in article management at a glance

Various product types can be created in the item management of the gFM Business ERP software, optionally with product variants, parts lists or combined items. In this short article, I will introduce all product types in item management.

• Standard article - If a normal item is entered in item management, it is a standard item. In order to use different prices for customer groups or graduated prices, price groups can be maintained for the item. 
• Text article - Text articles are pure texts that can be used in document items, e.g. as headings or sub-headings. No prices or other data can be stored in a text article.
• Service articles - If an article is marked as a service article, it appears in the selection list of the time recording when a service is added.

Product variants with article attributes

Under [Article > Article attributes] product variants can be created for an article. The possible product options and option values must first be entered under [Settings > Preferences > Articles] can be specified. If an item contains product variants in the form of item attributes, these can be selected in all billing documents when adding new items. Article attributes have their own warehouse management and support all storage locations.

Parts lists and combined articles

Under [Article > Parts list] BOM or combined articles can be entered for an article. BOM items do not appear on a document when the main item is added, but are also removed when the main item is removed. In contrast to BOM articles, combination articles are automatically added to the document when a main article with combination articles is added to a document. Accessory articles can also be added to an article for purely viewing purposes. These can be added to print layouts as required, but do not perform any function in invoicing.
